The following notes may help you if you run into difficulties. If you cannot resolve an issue please email the Webmaster for assistance:

Failure to accept new membership applications
On rare occasions the website refuses to accept new applications. When a new applicant clicks on the "Save" button they are redirected to the home page with no notification. This is often due to the presence of words which could be construed as spam or lines that commence with http:// or https://. Our ISP has implemented a strict security feature that is designed to prevent the entry of abusive text or obscene links to external websites. If this occurs, please attempt to enter your application with the minimal information possible and request assistance from the Webmaster.

Images
To upload an image, click "Browse", locate the picture on your device and then click upload. The maximum file size is 500 KB. You may receive an error indicating that the file is too big when it isn't. This can occur of the picture's file name contains punctuation marks like quotes or apostrophes. Please ensure that the file name does not contain any special characters (quotes, apostrophes copyright symbols etc) and attempt to reload the file. You can replace an existing file by clicking on the "Remove" button and then reloading another picture.

Ideally the picture should be in portrait format and be around 250 KB. There is no benefit to be had loading a larger file. If you need assistance in reducing your pictures filesize, please contact the Webmaster.

EU work visa expiration
Please enter the date you work visa expires in yyyy-mm-dd format or leave the field blanks if you have dual citizenship or Indefinite leave to remain. American Actors UK promotes the fact that all members are legal to work in the EU. Your Actor's profile will be removed from the Search results when your visa expires so please remember to keep it up to date.

Profile
The profile field can be used to display more information about yourself. It is a free format field. You can add a limited set of HTML markup codes to enhance the look if you so wish.

Voice Clip and Show Reel Links
You can specify a URL which links to your Voice Clips and Show Reels that are stored on and played/displayed on a different website. It is essential that you omit the http:// or https:// from the beginning of the URL. If you do not then your profile changes will fail (see Failure to accept new membership application above).

Examples:

if you are a member of Spotlight, you can provide direct links to your Spotlight Voice Clips by entering your Spotlight voice clip URL. To obtain the URL, access your Spotlight profile and click on "Listen to Voice clips", you can copy the URL from the header and paste it into the Voice Clip link. Please remember to remove the http:// from the start of the URL. The URL will look like this: media.spotlight.com/metadata/audioforpublication?artistRef=M123456&pub=1&artistName=%22John+Smith%22

Similarly, if you wish to link to your Spotlight Show Reels access your Spotlight profile and click on "See Video Showreel", you can copy the URL from the header.
It will look like this: media.spotlight.com/metadata/videoforpublication?artistRef=M123456&pub=1&artistName=%22John+Smith%22

if you have uploaded a Show Reel to Vimeo you would enter a URL similar to : vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks/122959827

Embedded Voice Clip and Embedded Show Reel Links
You can specify a URL which embeds a Voice Clips and/or a Show Reel on your American Actors UK Actor Profile page. Again it is essential that you omit the http:// or https:// from the beginning of the URL. To ensure that your clip/reel displays correctly irrespective of a viewers hardware, the link must invoke a facility on another website that plays the clip or shows the reel.

Examples:

If you have uploaded a Voice Clip to Soundcloud, enter the Soundcloud URL into the Embedded Voice Clip field which looks similar to this: w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/140685123

If you have uploaded a Show Reel to Youtube, enter the Youtube URL into the Embedded Show Reel field which looks similar to this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CRtN_rbPc8
