Terms & Conditions for play submission and selection

3.1 All plays must be submitted in electronic PDF format. This can be done after registration. No paper or email submissions will be accepted.
3.2 Each play must be registered separately, and will incur a UK £15 entry fee.
3.3 The entry fee must be paid via PayPal during the registration process. We regret that cheques and bank drafts cannot be accepted.
3.4 A submitted play will not be registered into the competition until a PDF of the play and the registration fee have both been received.

3.5 Every registered play will be read by two industry professionals in the first stage of the reading process. From this a shortlist will be compiled and each of those plays will be read again by all members of our Final Selection Panel who will determine the final selection for the Festival. The chosen plays will be become part of a fully produced one week run in a London West End theatre, performed by professional actors (where possible, members of American Actors UK) and directed by professional UK directors. The entire selection process may take up to six to eight weeks following the submission deadline. All playwrights will be notified by email of the outcome of their submission. The final results will be pubished on the American Actors UK website.

3.6 A policy of anonymity will be maintained throughout the reading process to ensure that all plays are judged on the merit of the work. Any playwright who is considered to have circumvented, or tried to circumvent, the anonymous process may have their entry(s) disqualified.

3.7 Those playwrights whose scripts are chosen for performance will be notified. There will be the opportunity for playwrights of selected plays to liaise with the director who will be directing the production.

3.8 The selection of plays by the selection panel will be final. The panel will not enter into correspondence.

3.9 Entries which have not been registered on this site or that arrive past the deadline will not be accepted.

3.10 Copyright of plays submitted remain with the copyright holder.

3.11 The list of selected plays, the name of the Author, and further information about the festival will be made generally available on the festival website, American Voices.

3.12 The scripts of the selected plays will only be made available to the Directors and to members of American Actors UK to allow them to audition for and perform the work. Any script submitted to the festival will not be made available to the general public. All scripts will be removed from the website at the conclusion of the festival. The Author's details, Play's synopsis and character breakdown will be retained for management purposes but will not be disclosed to the general public without the Author's express consent.

3.13 Subject to playwrights' written consent, excerpts from the plays, chosen for performance, may be posted on the festival website along with contact details for the playwrights. This opportunity may be extended to include other plays that have been shortlisted.
